Hi Girls! We are getting close to the end, which is exciting! Hope you guys had a nice weekend.
Just wanted to touch base with you both, and let you know what I was thinking about doing for my lesson plan/podcast.
I think I am going to do a lesson that deals with the benefits of exercise and fitness, combined with a healthy heart rate? I'm still brainstorming- but I think since we have to incorporated an excel chart/graph, I thought I could show the student the difference between a heart rate at rest and heart rate after physical activity. We as a class would do the activity together.
As for the podcast, I wasn't sure if we were just going to discuss the three different issues we kind of talked about in our videos/lesson 1. I'm open to any ideas:) We just have to keep in mind the order we want Kelsey to open it in.
Talk to you later this week:)
I thought I commented on this earlier, but I guess it didn't send! Sorry for seeming like I wasn't responding!
ReplyDeleteBut I was thinking that we can do our podcasts on healthy living in general. The three topics can be eating healthy, exercising, and living a healthy lifestyle. I just thought of the idea, so if either of you have any changes/another idea, that's fine!
For my lesson plan, I wanted to do something with nutritional facts. I can use excel to have students compare calories and other nutritional values in different types of foods to learn how to compare foods.
Sounds good Ashley! The podcast idea is pretty much the same thing I was thinking, I just wasn't sure how you wanted to break it up, but the three issue you mentioned sound great to me. If you guys don't care I would be interested in doing mine on the exercise part only because that has been the main focus I have been using with most of my lessons/video.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys have other thoughts or ideas, just let me know:)
I'm fine with you doing yours on exercise and I was thinking about doing eating healthy because I did my digital story on that. Courtney, you are free to change the topic if you want to!
ReplyDeleteAnd is there a way that you want to tie the podcasts together? I was thinking that we can start off by saying something like "An important factor of living a healthy life is (insert topic here)" but I am open to any other ideas!
Hi girls! Sorry this is the first time I am posting. Your ideas are sounding great!! Healthy lifestyles sound good for me to do. I was thinking about implementing ideas about different programs offered by the schools in the area (ie: Girls on the run). And I like your tie together using the statement "An important factor of living a healthy lifestyle is (getting involved in activities and being proactive). That would be my example. Is that sounding correct?
ReplyDeleteI think everyone's idea sounds great. Are we going to present in the order mentioned before-eating healthy, exercising, and living a healthy lifestyle? I think that order flows really well. And if that topic sounds OK to you Courtney, just try to tie the other two together by stating some of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Example- An important factor of living a healthy lifestyle is eating a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables, getting involved in activities and being proactive...you could also mention how a healthy diet and lifestyle creates not only a healthy body, but a healthy mind too...just some ideas:) I am sure you will do great. Loved your idea of mentioning local school activities like girls on the run! Let us know if you need any other help.
ReplyDeleteWe are also suppose to post on the blog what we are going to say during our podcast so I'm sure that will guide all of us. That way we can help each other with comments and/or feedback.
Yes I'll definitely sum things up at the end. What concepts from the text are you girls using because we can't use the same. Is our plan to write an exact script or do you just want to go with the flow? If you guys just give me your main points I think that would work so I can sum things up at the end. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteoh and for my lesson plan I was thinking of having the students collect data throughout the class or a couple of classrooms and survey and graph how long people exercise per day. Is that ok with you guys? Then I can tie it in with the podcast as well giving examples like girls on the run and then tie in with healthy diets.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great idea for your lesson plan, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteAs for the two concepts that I am going to use from the textbook: I think I will mention that during the healthy foods segment that we will be videoconferencing with a nutritionist to learn about the characteristics of healthy foods and doing some role-playing (grocery shopping for healthy foods to feed your family).
I will post the script that I create for my podcast this afternoon so that you can tie yours into mine or review it. We also need to decide on a grade level that would be appropriate for the podcasts. I was thinking that it can be directed towards a lower grade level. How about kindergarten or first?
An early ed grade sounds good- Kindergarten or 1st it doesn't matter to me. I will post my script tomorrow evening when I get home from work. I hope that's not too late for you Courtney, but I'm working on a project for another class tonight.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my friend and I share a book for this class, so when she is done using it for this week, I will pick out my two points.Feel free to pick whatever you guys want, and just post it, so I don't pick the same as you.
Good job on the video conferencing idea Ashley-that's perfect!
